This Wicker Park home had a five-bedroom layout where the fifth bedroom sat mostly empty except for random storage and the occasional guest who visited maybe twice a year. The challenge was converting the unused bedroom into a luxurious primary suite bathroom while maintaining proper resale value, ensuring the conversion felt intentional rather than wasteful, and creating a bathroom worthy of the investment they were making in their Wicker Park home.
We designed a complete room conversion that transformed the rarely-used bedroom into an exceptional primary bathroom that feels more intentional. The existing bedroom became a luxury bathroom featuring a f soaking tub positioned to capture natural light from the bedroom's original windows, a large walk-in shower with custom tile, rainfall showerhead, and frameless glass enclosure, double vanity with quartz countertops and ample storage, heated tile floors for Chicago winters. We installed a modern ventilation system to handle the bathroom humidity in what was originally bedroom space, added waterproofing appropriate for full bathroom use, upgraded electrical and plumbing run from the original bathroom, and selected sophisticated finishes throughout including chrome fixtures, zellige tile accents, and lighting on dimmers that creates actual ambiance.
The completed bedroom-to-bathroom conversion gave this Wicker Park home the luxury primary suite it was missing without adding square footage or dealing with building additions. By sacrificing a bedroom they never used for a bathroom they use daily, they dramatically improved their quality of life while creating a unique unit in a building full of identical layouts. This whole home remodeling Chicago project showcases how strategic room conversions can transform how you live and significantly increase value by creating the spaces today's buyers actually want.
