Job Description:
Wood Contracting Inc. is seeking a motivated General Remodeling Tradesperson to join our team working on high-quality residential renovation projects throughout Chicago. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills across multiple trades while working on kitchen, bathroom, and whole home remodeling projects. You will work directly with owner Dillon Wood and experienced professionals who are committed to exceptional craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with residential remodeling projects including demolition, framing, drywall, and finish carpentry.
- Work on kitchen and bathroom renovations from rough construction through final installation.
- Help with cabinet installation, countertop fitting, and trim work under supervision.
- Perform tile installation for floors, backsplashes, and shower surrounds.
- Assist with flooring installation including hardwood, tile, and luxury vinyl materials.
- Maintain clean, organized job sites and professional communication with homeowners.
- Learn advanced techniques and best practices in multiple trades through on-the-job training.
- Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites throughout Chicago.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on schedule and to quality standards.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in construction or remodeling, or relevant trade school education.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, drywall, and general construction techniques.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced professionals.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for Chicago job sites.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
- Professional attitude and good communication skills with clients and team members.
- Basic tool knowledge and ability to safely operate power and hand tools.
- Flexibility to work on various aspects of remodeling projects as needed.
- Commitment to maintaining clean and safe job sites in occupied homes.
