Job Description:
Wood Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced Finish Carpenter to join our team completing high-end residential remodeling projects in Chicago. This role focuses on the detailed finish work that transforms renovations into polished, beautiful spaces. You will work on custom trim, cabinetry installation, door hanging, and other precision carpentry that requires skill and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install custom trim work including baseboards, crown molding, window casings, and door frames.
- Hang and adjust interior doors, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and smooth operation.
- Install custom cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, and built-in storage throughout homes.
- Execute precise measurements and cuts for seamless joints and professional appearance.
- Install wainscoting, coffered ceilings, and other decorative millwork elements.
- Fit and install custom shelving, closet systems, and specialty woodwork.
- Work with various wood species and materials to achieve desired aesthetic results.
- Coordinate with painters and other trades to ensure proper sequencing of work.
- Maintain tools in excellent condition and ensure accurate, clean cuts on all projects.
- Ensure all finish work meets the high quality standards expected on every project.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in finish carpentry, preferably in residential remodeling.
- Expert-level skills in trim installation, door hanging, and custom cabinetry work.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and millwork specifications.
- Proficiency with finish carpentry tools including miter saws, table saws, and pneumatic nailers.
- Excellent eye for detail and commitment to precision in measurements and installations.
- Knowledge of various wood types, stains, and finishing materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills for addressing fit and alignment challenges.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for Chicago area job sites.
- Professional demeanor and excellent communication with homeowners during projects.
