Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Bathroom Renovation Carpenter to join Wood Contracting's team specializing in residential bathroom remodeling projects across Chicago neighborhoods. This position focuses on the detailed carpentry and installation work required for high-end bathroom renovations in condos, townhomes, and single-family residences. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects where precision and quality are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute bathroom demolition while protecting plumbing systems and adjacent rooms.
  • Install custom vanities, medicine cabinets, shelving, and bathroom storage solutions.
  • Frame and prepare spaces for shower installations, including waterproofing and tile substrates.
  • Install tile for floors, showers, tub surrounds, and backsplashes with precise measurements.
  • Fit and install bathroom fixtures including toilets, sinks, and faucets in coordination with plumbers.
  • Execute finish carpentry including trim work, door installation, and custom details.
  • Ensure proper ventilation installation and coordination with electrical work.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in occupied homes during renovations.
  • Communicate progress and any concerns directly with the project owner and homeowners.
  • Complete projects within established timelines while maintaining quality standards.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in bathroom remodeling or residential carpentry work.
  • Strong tile installation skills including shower systems and floor applications.
  • Experience with vanity installation, custom cabinetry, and finish carpentry.
  • Knowledge of waterproofing systems and proper bathroom construction techniques.
  • Ability to work in small spaces typical of Chicago condo and townhome bathrooms.
  • Familiarity with Chicago building codes and plumbing requirements.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for travel throughout Chicago.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding work including lifting, kneeling, and overhead tasks.
  • Professional demeanor when working in occupied residential properties.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and receive on-the-job training.
